Alain Pellet, is Emeritus Professor of the University Paris Ouest, Nanterre/La Défense. He is the author or co-author of numerous books and articles with special emphasis on general international law, dispute settlement and international investment law, including the most used treatise in public international law in the French language and an article by article Commentary of the Charter of the United Nations. He is a former Member (1990-2011) and Chairperson (1997) of the UN International Law Commission. He has acted as the ICANN Independent Objector for generic top level domain names (new gTLD) (2012-2014).
Pellet has acted and is still acting as Counsel inmore than fifty cases before the International Court of Justice and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea as well as several international and transnational arbitrations. He has been designated to the ICSID Panel of Arbitrators by the Chairman of the Administrative Council (2011) and has servedas counsel or arbitrator in several investor-State arbitration cases. Since 2012, he has been the President of the French Society for International Law.
